FOS Meeting - 10 June 2004
The meeting began at 7:20 PM at
the Schooner Club. In attendance were
T. Mayer, B. Babcock, D. West, G. Levin, R. Levin, J. Horschak, N. Horschak, E.
Blackney and B. Allaire.
There was no Treasurer’s Report. FOS has approximately $1500 in checking.
Summer Activities
Gatehouse
Update: We have Volunteers doing
all the morning shifts (9 to 1). The
second training session will be June 17.
Trail
Maintenance. The Trail Bosses
reviewed the first trail maintenance project held on June 5, and announced a
second session on June 26, which will involve guardrail removal on the road to
Schoodic Head.
Little
Moose Cleanup. Scheduled for June
12 at 11 AM. Meeting at Blueberry Hill.
Pond
Island Cleanup. Has not been
formally scheduled.
General
Shore Cleanup. It is tentatively
scheduled for July 11.
The Annual
Picnic has been scheduled for July 31 at the picnic pavilion at SERC. N. Horschak, D. West and R. Levin
volunteered to serve as the Organizing Committee, with help from others.
The June
meeting of RC and D will be held at the Schooner Club, and co-sponsored by
FOS. B. Allaire is a member of the
group and has set up the meeting.
Bylaws
Bob Babcock and Nancy Horschak initiated a discussion of the
proposed bylaws. The group decided to
table any action on the bylaws until everyone had a chance to review them. Most of the July meeting will be devoted to
discussion of the bylaws. The document
will be posted on the web site, and available at the Gatehouse.
Other
Bob Babcock distributed copies of
a summary of the Pew report on ocean pollution. It will be discussed at the next meeting.
